Monday Motivation: Chuck Pagano

{This weeks Monday Motivation is coming a day early—on Sunday in fact. I published this post today, at 1:00 EST, to coincide with kickoff for Chuck Pagano and his Indianapolis Colts in the first round of NFL Playoffs.}

Last January, Chuck Pagano’s dream came true. The Indianapolis Colts hired him as the head coach of their NFL franchise. The Colts were coming off a horrendous 2-14 season and needed a change. They hired Pagano and drafted a new franchise quarterback, Andrew Luck. By the fall, things were looking up.

Then, Coach Pagano was diagnosed with leukemia. In his first season as an NFL head coach he was forced to take an indefinite leave of absence while undergoing chemotherapy.

Amazingly, the team rallied around their ailing coach, won 11 of 16 games, and made the playoffs in his honor. On Christmas Eve, Chuck Pagano took the field again as head coach and cancer survivor.

Sometimes, the worst possible circumstances bring the best out of the people around us. Enjoy hearing from “Chuck Strong” himself.
