Monday Motivation: Mr. Motivation

Mr. Motivation wants you to listen up.

Mr. Motivation wants you to listen up.

Most Mondays I send out a movie clip I find motivational. This week, I am trying something different. You can call it a pep talk or a pre-game speech for your week. This comes courtesy of Mr. Motivation, a fictional person who lives in the recesses of my mind. I am not sure exactly what he looks like, but this old picture of Billy Sunday is in the ballpark.

Mr. Motivation says . . .

Hey you!

Yeah, you right there with the idea. You know, the idea you bring up at parties that will revolutionize everything. Well, I have a message for you:

It’s time to get started.

I know what you’re thinking . . .

I don’t have it all figured out.
I am not sure how all the pieces fit together.
I am not ready yet.
I don’t know how to do it.

Guess what, you never will if you don’t get started. What makes you think that anybody—author, entrepreneur, parent—has a clue what they were doing at the beginning. In fact, if you could read some first drafts of your favorite authors or hear first attempts from your favorite songwriters you would fall over with laughter. They sucked.

It’s time to stop the excuses and get started.

You will not finish 100% of the projects you never start. (tweet that?)

I know you’re scared. The threat of failure is a frightening thing. But, welcome to the human race. Failure is a part of life. Failure is beauty’s fertilizer—it stinks but the flowers sure look pretty.

So, the time has come to start. Today. Right now. Get er’ done.

What will you start this week?
